However, I'm considering buying a pre-owned explorer 2, and while the deal is pretty good, the watch is pretty danged as well. So I would like to have it polished. see if we can make a good loker out of it once again. In your experience, will a polish bump out those wear&tear signs? The first thing to look for on 16570 is the bezel. Unpolished examples should have very strong, vibrant brushing on the front of the bezel with vertical lines radiating from the center of the watch. Also, fresh from the factory there's a very thin line of polish on the edge of the bezel. I have owned a NOS 14270 and a mint 114270: lugs looked very similar to this.typical of the model. I also know that on several 4 and 5 digit references, the crown-side lugs are slightly thinner by design for a better (aesthetic) balanced case. Rolex states this explicitly, and I believe still employs it on the 6 digit Daytonas.
